Vessel to Vessel Services at FMI takes care of the working side of your boat to compliment the detail side of the business that guarantees a beautiful finished look to your vessel. Vessel to Vessel (V2V) services polishes your fuel to keep your engines running smoothly, changes all your filters and fluids (lube oil, gear oil, and coolant) for regular preventative maintenance to reduce breakdowns which are time consuming and expensive. We are equipped and very experienced at tank cleaning and repair to make sure your clean fuel is not returned to a dirty environment. When necessary we cut access holes in your tank and install removable access plates afterwards. These holes allow us to thoroughly clean the fuel tank. When done with any engine room work, we can degrease dirty engines and bilges, and using our steam cleaner we can really make the “basement” look appealing again. We pump your bilges and dispose of all wastewater, and leave the boat smelling of citrus or the favored “new boat smell”. We protect your carpets and decks before hand to prevent any tracking of engine room byproducts from soiling your pride and joy. When required we will paint your engines and engine room to really finish off an aged boat.

The convenience for the boat owner of using V2V services is that we come to you. The workhorse of our operation is our “Yellow Bill” workboat. We travel to you and tie up alongside your boat. We take extreme care to use plenty of fenders to protect your boat. We carry all of our equipment on board and simply transfer all fluids and supplies from “Vessel to Vessel” keeping our service quick and self-contained.

The other repairs we do consist of all systems onboard the vessel. Our experienced repair crew led by our Chief Engineer will tackle any troubleshooting challenge and come up with a solution to get you back out on the water for a safe and enjoyable voyage. Pumps, motors, electrical and plumbing repairs of all kinds are routine for us and take the mystery out of those frustrating intermittent failures.

Fuel Polishing:

Fuel polishing is the removal of water and contaminants that haunt diesel fuel oil. Bacteria grow in diesel fuel and actually feed off of the hydrocarbons and moisture present in fuel tanks. They grow and leave waste products in your tanks that are commonly referred to as “algae” or “sludge” and looks just like that. It plugs fuel filters, lines and pumps. It will shut your engine down in the most inopportune times during rough weather when it is agitated. It is abrasive to injectors and can cause early failure in close tolerant machine parts. Water in your fuel combines with the naturally occurring sulfur in diesel fuel and forms sulfuric acid, a highly corrosive acid that destroys almost every type of material and will definitely eat through fuel tanks. Keeping water to a minimum in your fuel tanks is very important. Our fuel polishing equipment removes all water with our water separating filters. The other filters in the system remove all particulate material down to ½ of a micron. That is smaller than a particle of smoke. Rough running, smoking engines, and unusually dirty fuel filters are signs of bacterial growth in your tanks and should be addressed as soon as possible. The inconvenience and expense of having your fuel system maintained is much cheaper than going on the rocks with your loved ones onboard.

Tank Repair:

FMI Industries has had great success at repairing tanks of all materials. Our special epoxy sealers are resistant to petroleum products and guarantee the stoppage of leaks due to corrosion, material fatigue, or weld failure. We have sealed tanks which otherwise would have to be replaced at great expense due to the location of most tanks and the large task of removing and installing new tanks.
