About Felix Marine Industries

The idea for a yacht management company came when Bill and his two daughters (Leah and Jenna) owned a 44’ Gulfstar that they moored on Lake Union. Bill had been a stockbroker for over 15 years and was ready to retire but apparently not ready to stop working. He had mentioned to many people that he could not find a company that was reliable and professional to handle the maintenance and upkeep for his boat. After searching with no avail, Bill started his own company. He built the company on a solid foundation that promised performance, service, and reliability to his customers.

Felix Marine Industries (FMI) is named after an inside joke. As a boy my father (Bill Orr, CEO of FMI) use to watch The Odd Couples Show with Tony Randall as Felix Unger, with his little brother. Both boys were natural perfectionists and whenever they were going to clean, detail or perfect something they would say, “I’m going to Felix it”. Twenty years later as a child whenever it was time to do my own chores my dad would tell me (Leah Orr-Stimmel, Vice President) to, “do it the Felix way or don’t do it at all.” In 1997 when Bill decided he was going to start a yacht management company, it was only appropriate that it be named Felix Marine Industries Inc.

Felix Marine Industries Inc. has grown substantially since 1996; we are now the largest detail company in Washington State. Throughout the years we have expanded our services to include vessel to vessel environmental services and our product division. The years pass by, and we are proud to admit that the spirit that began this ride continues to thrive each day. As the company evolves, we face many choices, yet we always do our very best to take care of our people, our community and our environment. At FMI we have a proud history and a promising future!
